Muzeum Zamek Opalińskich w Sierakowie

     Muzeum Zamek Opalińskich w Sierakowie, działające od 1995 roku, mieści się w odbudowanym południowym skrzydle dawnego zamku, którego historia sięga końca XIV wieku. Zamek został wzniesiony z inicjatywy rodu Nałęczów, a prace budowlane rozpoczęła prawdopodobnie Wichna, kontynuując je jej wnuk Wincenty. Początkowy zamek miał kształt czworoboku, z dwoma skrzydłami połączonymi łącznikiem, a dziedziniec otaczała fosa. W XV wieku, po przejęciu przez Łukasza Górkę, zamek przeszedł pierwszą przebudowę. Kolejne zmiany wprowadził kasztelan Jan Opaliński, który nadał mu renesansowy charakter, nadbudowując dwa piętra i zmieniając bryłę zamku.

 

     W XVIII wieku zamek został częściowo zniszczony, a w 1829 roku, w wyniku budowy drogi, rozebrano większość ruin, pozostawiając jedynie skrzydło południowe. W 1991 roku, po odkryciu sarkofagów rodziny Opalińskich w kościele pobernardyńskim, podjęto decyzję o rekonstrukcji zamku, przywracając ocalałe fragmenty. Obecnie muzeum prezentuje historię regionu Sierakowskiego, z naciskiem na cenne sarkofagi Opalińskich.
